Faculty Recital: Taylor Shea, Viola
Join us for an evening of exquisite music as we present Taylor Shea, Viola/Violin Instructor, in his faculty recital.
A versatile and passionate artist, Taylor Shea has established himself as a compelling voice in the world of classical music. An avid orchestral and chamber musician, his performances have taken him across the country, where he has had the honor of performing under the batons of legendary conductors including Marin Alsop, Gerard Schwarz, and Barbara Hannigan. His impressive orchestral resume includes performances with the Palm Beach Symphony and the Juilliard Orchestra, as well as principal violist roles with the Eastman Philharmonia and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra.
Known for his captivating expressiveness, Taylor's talents were highlighted in 2021 when he won the Penn State Concerto Competition, leading to a performance of the challenging Walton Viola Concerto. A dedicated advocate for sharing the power of music, he also held a Gluck Community Service Fellowship at Juilliard, bringing chamber music to diverse communities in hospitals and youth shelters.
With degrees from The Juilliard School and Penn State University, Taylor brings a depth of experience and musical refinement to the stage. This recital promises to be a memorable showcase of his artistry, featuring a selection of works that highlight the rich, resonant voice of the viola.
