Yilia Huang

Voice/Piano Instructor

Yilia (Yile) Huang, mezzo-soprano, recently completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She holds a Master of Music in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

Dr. Huang brings over ten years of teaching experience and maintains an active applied voice studio. She works with students of diverse ages and backgrounds, teaching classical voice, musical theatre, foundational vocal technique, and cross-cultural repertoire. Her teaching emphasizes healthy vocal production, stylistic awareness, and individualized instruction tailored to each student’s goals.

As a performer, Dr. Huang has appeared in a wide range of operatic roles, including Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Flora (La Traviata), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Ragonde (Le comte Ory), Bradamante (Alcina), and Sotopenre (Akhenaten). She performed for three consecutive years as a featured soloist with the Shanghai Baroque Solo Group in collaboration with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and she was selected to participate in the internationally broadcast Thomas Hampson Masterclass in 2021.
Dr. Huang is deeply committed to cultural integration through music education and performance. Her doctoral research focuses on a comparative study of musical traditions in Mongolia and the Mongolian ethnic minority in China.

Her teaching philosophy focuses on helping students build a strong and enjoyable foundation for their musical journey. Dr. Huang meets students where they are and supports their growth based on individual interests, helping each student find a learning path that feels both meaningful and sustainable—whether music becomes a lifelong passion or a future profession.

Dr. Huang is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and currently resides in Florida, where she continues to contribute to the region’s musical and cultural education community.
