Maggie Mao

Maggie (Meiti) Mao, a classical pianist, educator, and composer with substantial experience in teaching and performance since 2013. Maggie developed a unique teaching method, the “Brain Chocolate Factory System” which helps children and teenagers develop their patience, motivation and focus, leading to impressive and rapid progress in their practice. She has helped numerous younger students accomplish significant goals without many struggles, not only in music but also in overcoming big challenges in their lives, by unlocking their potential using this unique teaching method. This approach allows students to break down difficult challenges into many smaller and manageable pieces, offering them a completely new perspective. As a pianist and composer, she personalizes student’s lesson plan based on their interests in various styles, combining with fundamental skills, condensed theory knowledge, improvisation, and composition. Not only does she teach the piano, but she also helps unlock her students’ potential with writing and improvising music with full enjoyment.

Maggie earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a full scholarship. Further advancing her musical expertise, she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music under the guidance of world-renowned artist and pianist Mr. Kevin Kenner.

Maggie’s musical journey began at the age of 6, and she received intensive professional training in piano performance, music theory, and composition at an early age at an elementary music school in Taiwan. Her remarkable talent has been recognized with top honors in prestigious international piano competitions, including the Lansum International Music Competition, the Amadeus International Music Competition, the Windsor International Piano Competition, the Taiwan National Music Competition, and the Steinbach Competition.

As a classical pianist, she has performed various solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and concertos with orchestras throughout Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, France, the United Kingdom, and the US. As a composer, she began studying composition at an early age in elementary school and wrote her first composition at the age of 8, inspired by a Christian hymn, which significantly shaped her compositional style.
